The original owner, Robert Miller, sold the house to Joe Chaster in 1933 and it was owned by members of the Chaster family until 1994.

This house originally stood on a one acre lot but that one acre has been subdivided. The house next door at 257 Cairnsmore stands on what was originally a garden area of the original lot one acre for 263 Cairnsmore. This lot was subdivided from the original lot by Joe Chaster and the house at 257 Cairnsmore was built by Joe Chaster’s daughter, Ruth Chaster, in 1994.
